Behind the Scenes of a Photographer’s Workshop: Pushing Creative Boundaries in Bridal Hair and Makeup

I recently had the incredible opportunity to be part of a photographer’s workshop, providing hair and makeup for the real model couple who took part. It’s always so exciting to be involved in styled shoots! From the moment I received the brief, I felt inspired and slightly challenged. With the clocks going back, I knew I was going to be up against a challenge of creating two looks throughout the day as we were limited to natural daylight for the photographers to shoot. See more below of what was created!

The day was full of energy and collaboration. Seeing my work through the lenses of the photographers that took part and observing the subtle differences in how light, angles and composition can transform a look is always fascinating. The workshop was held by Liz Greenhalgh and Beth Young. For this workshop, I created two distinct looks for the models. The first was soft and elegant. Perfect for daytime portraits. I focused on natural textures, flawless skin and delicate details that enhanced my models features. Later, we transitioned into an evening look, slightly darkening the lip up and a change of earrings. Perfect for capturing the energy of celebrations. Adjusting a style midway through a shoot is such a great way to showcase the versatility of bridal hair and makeup. With just a few tweaks, a look can transform entirely. Offering brides inspiration for how they might switch things up for evening receptions or after-party celebrations!

Styled shoots like this are also a wonderful reminder of why I love bridal beauty work. They encourage me to experiment, try new techniques and push my creativity beyond the usual routine! Collaborating with other creatives, photographers, models, stylists also reinforces the importance of teamwork in bringing a vision to life. I am always honoured to see the final images land in my inbox!

For brides to be searching for inspiration, styled shoots like these offer a glimpse into what’s possible for your wedding day! There’s so much to explore!
