A Wedding MUA’s Top Five Amazing Wedding Venues

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

As a wedding makeup artist, I’m so lucky to visit so many beautiful venues around the UK. However you want your wedding to be themed - a fairytale castle vibe, a swanky club feel or a classic countryside house, the UK has so many great choices for wedding venues.

I just love being with a bride to apply their makeup at the wonderful venues they chose for their wedding, as usually there’s a lovely story behind the choice, or some real thought gone into why they chose the venue they did. You’ll remember where you got married forever, so picking somewhere you love and are comfortable with is so important!

I’ve been to many weddings and seen loads of venues - here are my TOP FIVE, to give you a little bit of inspiration for your big day.

The Old Hall - Ely

This is a beautiful country retreat set in gorgeous surroundings, with the best views of the cathedral. There’s some beautiful lakes as a backdrop - this place really is a picture perfect venue! If you choose to marry there, you get free reign over the house and gardens and can really put your mark and wedding theme on it. A great choice.

Hengrave Hall - Suffolk

A venue fit for a princess. There’s a bridal preparation room of dreams - the “Queen Elizabeth Chamber” - where you can get ready in style and sip champagne before the ceremony. The Hall is set in gorgeous scenic surroundings with so much space for you and your bridal party to relax in.

Swynford Manor - Newmarket

Set in beautiful surroundings and on the outskirts of Newmarket, this is a stunning picturesque venue for a classic bride! The Bridal Preparation Room is a generously sized room with ample space for you and your bridal party to get ready together. The manor is nestled in beautiful countryside with seven acres of stunning private gardens and a luxurious Bridal Suite for the night of the wedding.

The Granary Barns - Suffolk

Situated on the outskirts of Newmarket, this venue is perfect for relaxed intimate weddings. On offer is a wonderfully romantic, unique venue surrounded by trees and farmland. The Barns themselves are perfect for a vintage chic wedding, adding a little boho touch to your day.

Oxnard Hall - Norfolk

One of Norfolk’s most popular charming venues, it’s nestled in the glorious countryside. It has so much history - a medieval church and Tudor hall, and it’s a truly idyllic place in which to get ready, celebrate and unwind.

I hope my love for these venues has inspired you! Where are you planning to tie the knot?
